Dr Ramesh. S. Ve has over 13 years of academic, clinical and research experience. He did his Masters of Philosophy in optometry and completed his Doctorate (PhD) in 2014 from Elite School of Optometry, affiliated to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. His thesis was aimed at estimating a five-year progression of glaucoma, both structural and functional changes evaluated using ophthalmic imaging and perimetry tests.

Dr. Ramesh is currently an Associate professor, Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University.

Dr. Ramesh received the Indo-US Public Health Research Post-doctoral Research fellowship-2014 at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. He has around 53 research articles in peer-reviewed indexed journals and has filed 1 patent and has two copyrights received.. He has a keen interest towards techno-entrepreneurship and has helped develop the semi-automated optic nerve head analysis software (CyOptique-GL), in collaboration with Cynaptix India (P) Ltd, Chennai and "Progresso" cloud-based novel glaucoma image analyzer in collaboration with Kalpah Innovations (P) Ltd, Vishakapattinam - both these products are commercially available in India. His work on cost-effective portable imaging device OcuDA, won the Gold Medal for best innovation at the DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme-2013. He is the founding Director of VISINT Healthcare Pvt Ltd, incubated at Manipal University Technology and Business Incubator and has received Biotechnology Ignition Grant from BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology, India. Visint is developing multi-modular smartphone-based eye imaging (non-mydriatric) system- OcuDA.

Dr.Ramesh was the Honorary Secretary, Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry- India (2012-2015) and member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society, USA. He is an active member of Institutional Research Committee, SOAHS and Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Manipal University.
